Be an Ally
Adult Allies
SYPP is looking for adults who support youth decision-making, have strong social justice values and organizing experience to fill the positions below. People of color, women, and GLBTQ folk are encouraged to apply. Please email volunteers@sypp.org to get involved (include “Interested in Volunteering” in the subject line)!
Real-World Survival–Tutoring and Homework Help Program
SYPP is currently developing a structure for a homework help program at SYPP so that members and their friends can get consistent academic support in addition to the emotional and activist support they already receive. The goal is to have the capacity to support 20 youth two days a week in 2011. Can you commit to coming in to offer academic support?
Adult Board Member Openings
SYPP’s Board of Directors is unique because adults share decision-making power with youth members. SYPP’s board must be majority youth. Attend monthly meetings and give hands-on support to our grassroots fundraising efforts. Board positions are currently filled. Please consider applying next year.
Project Liberation Mentors
Project Liberation is SYPP’s anti-oppression education arm. Youth lead workshops with adults in the larger community and for other SYPP programs. As a mentor, you would teach facilitation skills, help prepare and lead workshops with youth, and participate in Real World discussions. You must attend at least one meeting a month. Check out Project Liberation page to see our workshop catalog. Email projectliberaton@sypp.org to sign up. General Volunteers SYPP staff sometimes needs an extra hand or two to help out with our event planning or to do random jobs. Check in with us at info@sypp.org to see if we could use your help.
