Hiring Philosophy

For a long time now, SYPP has had a tradition of opening fresh staff opportunities for young social justice workers, with a unique policy of staggered 3-4 year terms for our Co-Directors.


Working at SYPP requires a wide skill-set and a commitment to youth empowerment. It is a great opportunity to grow drastically and it’s also an opportunity to comes up every couple of years. At SYPP our co-directors cycle out every three to four years because we believe in maintaining an organizational power balance that favors the youth leaders and not entrenched adult staff. We are also dedicated to creating room for people who have not had the opportunity to step into this kind of leadership position.


We extend our commitment to leadership development and the empowerment of young people to the way we train, supervise and staff our organization.
