Activist Conversations are inter-generational monthly gatherings where folks come together to talk on a range of themes and skills related to social change and community organizing.

I’d like to take a moment to introduce SYPP’s evolving approach to developing youth leaders.

In the past we have focused on four main components of youth leadership development. Those components were (1) peer-led popular education, (2) youth-led projects and campaigns, (3) youth-led decision making and (4) youth empowered fundraising.

We’re taking that model and adding to it our new Social Justice Leadership Pipeline. The Justice Pipeline is a positive, tiered pathway that supports young people towards lifelong community organizing. This will ignite young people as change agents, sustain their growth as activists, and provide long-term organizing opportunities in the movement.

Queer Youth Space is a grassroots movementinterested in a creating a variety of space(s) for queer youth – whether that be recruiting queer youth to sit on non-profit boards, our pilot programs (that have received notable press), or working with organizations to involve queer youth at community events and benefits. It is important to share that we recently decided to apply for a Neighborhood Matching Grant from the City of Seattle. NMF funds grassroots groups who “come together to design, build, and implement their own neighborhood and community improvement project ideas.”
